Now who is king and queen of the hill in Olympic hockey? All Canadians are very proud of our Mens and Womens hockey accomplishments.  :P   Great Olympics that were presented at Salt Lake. Everyone should be proud.

Congrats to Canada.  Normally I wouldn't have cared that the Gold went up north and we had to settle for silver; but this time it bothered me a little.  Personally I didn't care for Wayne Gretsky's remarks about us hating Canada, that really turned me off.  I have no problem with Canada, but after that I did want to see them lose.  That and of course I would've liked to see the U.S. home streak last, but that's ok.

Congrats to Team Canada.  It was a good game.  Glad to see they finally won the gold after 50yrs without it.  Would have been happy too if the USA won, but I am just as happy that our friends up North won.

I'm happy for the Canadians, at least for the most part. They are so passionate about hockey and the creators, so that was nice. But to make it sound like a war, and that we hate them is bogus, plain and simple. Is that the only way they could get up enough emotion to beat us? Make us out to hate them?

My other thought is that they have to basically come here to make their millions, and yet they act like this is a war between "us" & "them". This country is keeping the NHL afloat, period. The Canadian teams have a hard team keeping any decent teams together because they can't afford it. To act like they hate us, and then come here to play every night...that pi$$es me off a little.

I do love hockey, though, and I'd really have ahted to lose to the Czechs or the Russians

I think the media probably had more to do with the "hatred" stuff than the actual players and fans, though. It is all about ratings!

Well finally someone has the guts to stand up for Canada.  Everything that Gretzky said was true.  Look at the ladies hockey they had the canadian flag on the floor in the dressing room.  Now whats up with that?

As for the Canadians having a hard time keeping good players: that is all the Americans fault for trying to buy teams and inflating all of the players salarys.  There is just simply no way we can compede with the american cities with their large population base and high dollar value.

I really didn't care if the men won, but the women losing was a big upset in my opinion.  Also I thought it would be funny if the men lost and women won.  That way Canadians could be like "The Women did it, Why couldn't you?" that would really grind their asses lol!

I am happy for Canada and Canadians in general!  However, I find it hard to get excited about "Olympic" hockey (or basketball or baseball, etc) that is littered with pro's.  I think Herb Brooks made a BIG mistake by coaching.... he was part of the greatest Olympic upset ever and he should have left it at that.  Even if he won this year, was it going to be any big deal? No!  I read an article about the game where the writer described it ..."the only difference Between this game and an NHL Allstar game was that the players played like it mattered who won"...

HEY! I didnt insult anybody!  Just given my view on professionals in the Olympics....... no insults.  I would never insult anyone.  Never.  No exceptions.  Except for people from Richmond.  But, everyone knows how stupid and ugly they are so that doesnt matter.

I agree Newbie.  Hockey and basketball in the Olympics just aren't the same since they allow pros to play.  It takes the sport, meaning, and amaturism out of the competition.

I lke the Hockey, because there we still do not dominate it.  I used to like the bsaketball, because other countries used pros, so why should we?  But now everybody else plays for silver, and it's kind of boring.  The hockey on the other hand is great I think, and it's better than NHL because it's fast paced, and they can do more with the bigger ice.  And the no fighting rule makes the game go quicker to.  I think the NHL should change to Olympic Rules.
