Steprails: Why?

Ok, I dislike steprails (no offense to you guys that have them).

 

Out of curiousity, what's yall's reason(s) for having them?

main reason was for short passengers #1.  I do not use them except if i am looking at the roof.  All my passengers use them because they are much shorter than me and need 2

 

2nd reason was safety.  They seem to help a bit in side crashes.

 

3rd looks and also they save some rock chips

I like the looks, plus the wife needs them to get in.  I guess I also use them when I'm washing the rig...hard to reach the center of the roof when you're 5'11"

I don't have them, but only because I don't have the money to have everything I want.  

 

I want to get them because I want something to help blobk a little more crap from flying up on the bottom sides of my vehicle.  I don't like the look of running boards on Blazers and I think the step rails look pretty good, so by getting them I cut down on SOME of the stuff flying up but it will look better than running boards.

I got em (in the garage temporarily) so that 1) the gf could get in the passenger side, since there arent any good handles and 2) to hide some frame from my body lift.  oh, and 3) more places to mount lights!

Mine came w/ the avy so that's why I have them.  I for one don't use them since I just jump in anyways.  But since it has them the passengers use them to get in.  I drive my sister to school in the morning so she needs them to get in and out.

 

Aside from that they look nice, I wouldn't mind a set of chrome ones if anyone wants to trade?

It's the only way my kids can get in the truck, and they add some protection from rocks and stones that get flung from the tires.

1. So the wife could get in the truck.

 

2. I have a 2500hd CC. The bed is high. The tire to tire step gives me access to the cab part of the bed without sratching the side of my truck.

Because they came with the truck when I got it.  And for protection.  I would rather have the chrome step tube than the rails but don't have the money now for them.

My dad has them for my mom to get in the truck...

 

I don't really like the way any type of steps look on stock, or lowered for that matter, blazers/jimmy's, I dunno why I just don't. So for rock chips what I am going to do is put some rhino liner on the bottom part, right below the bump strip down. Then when I build the bumper(s) I am going to line them also... I hope to be *bling* *bling* when I am done...

Sometimes I have to go through acres of deep rutted roads and these things help protect the side rails (rocker panels???), and floor pan when a rock or rut is high enough to touch that part of the truck.

 

Our old farm truck is beat up quite badly down there and because of these pipes, my '03 truck is not even scratched underneath, in spite of the high rocks and hard ruts.

 

Cosmetics?  Nah.  I don't care how they look as long as they protect.  I checked "other" in the survey.
