Ls9 in a 5.3??

Will the ls9 camshaft be a good camshaft to install in a truck 5.3? I know the z06 cam take a cam sensor relocation and a different timing chain cover. Will i run into the same with the ls9 cam?

For an 04, then no. It is a gen 4 cam. Look at Lingenfelter or comp cams. Or look into an LS6 cam. But changing the cam will require at minimum new valve springs

Why an ls9 cam why not a performance cam for your 5.3 any 4 gen cam should be fine but what's the significance of this particular cam some one give it to you for free lol just joking but seriously what's up with the ls9 cam besides I thought the ls9 was a big block anyway I think you'll be fine with the location of the sensor but if your going thru the trouble of new cam timing cover and springs might as well get new lifters valves maybe even flow the heads I'll do some checking I have a friend that builds these badass sand buggies he only puts ls corvette motors in them got something like $250,000 wrapped up in his motor alone but I'll check with him about that cam
