A.H. Fox 20ga bird gun

I had a friend that passed away recently. His son was tasked with disposing of his collection/accumulation of side by side shotguns. I jumped at this one he offered for sale on one of the collectable gun sites I've been a member of for the past fifteen years or so.

It's not a pristine collectable, but it's a great shape hunting gun. A 1928 A.H. Fox 20ga, made in the Philadelphia plant before Savage transferred ownership and location to Utica. The Philly guns had better craftsmanship and are more sought after and bring a bit more money.

This example has 28" barrels and tips the scale at 5 lbs 10 oz.. This gun was reblued by my friend as well as the stock being refinished. The barrels are rust blued and the stock is refinished to a similar sheen as OEM. The processes used were faithful to the original processes. No hot salt blueing or bottled touch-up blue.

The gun locks up tight as a drum. That's a trait of the rotary bolt design of the Fox.
