Matching LEDs to Puddle lights

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I just installed the amp research steps and swapped the LEDs out with an extra strip I had laying around. The install went great and everything works fine, except that my lights are purple. So far all of my lights on my truck are cool white including the headlights. Im assuming that the puddles are cool white as well since I haven't swapped those out and they seem to be close in color. Would anyone happen to know what color temperature the puddle lights are so that I can order LED strips to match? The pictures make it look like they are white but the one thats a pic directly down on it is the most accurate look of the color.

Thank you!

Heres a couple pics of the lights and what they look like now.

Those are nice but why did you chose ones so expensive? Also they don't have the color temp listed it's just "cool white" which unfortunately ranges by LED maker :/

Theres other members that used these and posted them in another thread somewhere. They seem to be a very good quality and I don't consider 63.00 dollars to be expensive when I just paid 1100.00 for steps. I don't care about the color temp really. Anything will be better than the purplish lights from AMP

Ya the purple is brutal lol I might just order some natural white ones I'm just concerned they won't match

I think the strips will be bright enough that its going to wash out the puddle lights under the mirrors. If they were going to be on for long periods of time then I may be more concerned about matching them. But no longer that they will ever be on, I think I can deal with it if its off a few shades.

Ya unfortunately mine are purple right now lol I'm not color matching for the light results, for me it just looks off when you look at the puddles and see the step lights two different colors. I'm thinking natural white should be good for the steps. The puddles have a slight blue but I'm not sure if it's enough to call it "cool white" you know what I mean?

Anyone else have any ideas on matching these?

How hard are those eBay lights to install?

Piece of cake. If you've ever done any electronic wiring at all you will be totally fine. Just cut out the front LEDs, solder wire onto the new LED strip, solder to old LED wires, then tape those bad boys up with some 3m and you are good to go
