05 GMC 1500 Power Window Not Working

Recommended Posts

It started out as an intermittent problem a few days ago, sometimes the drivers window would operate...but now it's totally dead. The motor was strong, there were no signs of binding or weird sounds so I think the regulator is in tact. I'm guessing it's just the switch itself that died. All other 3 windows work fine, and the door locks and power mirrors work fine. Just the driver window switch that appears dead.

Are there any fuses that control the drivers window switch separately? Is there a way to repair the switch or do I have to buy a whole new switch panel? Wondering if anybody has cracked them open to re-solder or repair. Didn't find much out by searching. It's getting too warm outside for no working window! Any help would be great. Thanks!

I checked all the rises and didn't see any problems. I took apart the switch and didn't see any burns or bad parts. I didn't see any links or breaks in the window wiring. What do you think it could be? Should I just order a new switch and see if it works?

See if you have power at the motor. Wouldn't be surprised if the motor took a dump

Yeah I applied direct power to the motor. It goes up and down just fine. Had to be something hidden in the switch or wiring,in guessing. What else could it be?

Then it would likely be the switch, if no power is present after leaving the switch.

So go figure, today it's back to intermittent working. I can hold the switch up or down and the window will go a little, then stop, then move some more then stop. A constant off then on...all while holding the switch the entire time.

Makes me think now that the motor is going out. I'll have to do some more direct power tests on the motor. Is there anything that can be checked besides just putting power to the motor?

Well it's been working great for a week. Then this morning it goes down fine, but to get it to go up, it almost needed help. I was holding the switch up, and it was jittering/shaking a bit before it made it to the top. Would that be a motor going out?
