Chrome mirror cover/trim removal tips??

Recommended Posts

Posted

I am looking to remove the OEM chrome mirror trim/caps from my mirrors. I have a 2014 Sierra SLT. Can anyone on here provide me with some tips or hints on how to safely remove these covers so I don't scratch or damage anything??? I am going to want to sell them so I do not want to damage the clips/tabs on the covers ect. As soon as I get them removed, without damage, I will post them in the for sale section. Thank you for any guidance.

If you take the mirror caps off with out breaking any clips please post as I bet you will be the first. Even the dealerships usually break the clips. No tricks, I just popped mine off using two different ways I found online and both broke half the clips almost.

Thanks Tyler, I thought the same thing. Hopefully, luck will be on my side, and they won't break!...

To properly remove the caps, you're gonna need to remove the mirrors from the truck and disassemble the mirror assembly. Once the glass is out, you should be able to access the clips for removal without damage.
