Help with leveling kit!!!

Recommended Posts

I got a leveling kit on the cheap side (I know, you get what you pay for) but do you guys think this is a good setup? Only reason Im skeptical is because I have not seen it anywhere on the market. The guy explained that he didn't want to install anything on top because he had to cut the bolts and didn't want to void my warranty. He also explained that he doesn't trust the U bolt shaped one because it was made from polyurethane. Any recommendations?

I would have put the bolts in from the top.

My 2" Motofab was machined aluminum. But I've not seen a kit like yours so I have no opinion. As long as the spacers hold their integrity I don't see an issue.

I've had trucks with both the top setup where you cut the strut studs and the bottom U-shaped spacer. Yes, some bottom spacers are plastic but you can also get aluminum ones that pretty much do exactly what your setup is doing. Raising the body changes the angle of the control arms the same way no matter where the spacer is, so I don't see any benefit to one over the other, besides the top setup being harder to see once it's installed. My bottom aluminum U spacer with bolts was $27 and installed it myself so it was a pretty good investment. It did throw the truck out of alignment so that was another $90 though.

When the installer stated "he doesn't trust the U bolt shaped one because it was made from polyurethane" I wouldn't have trusted him with my truck. It doesn't represent a mechanic who is too knowledgeable in this area! There are many brands of aluminum and steel u shaped spacers and the polyurethane ones are working fine on probably thousands of trucks. However, it looks like a solid setup you have and will serve the purpose adequately. Did you have an alignment done after the installation?
