How do you remove the 7 pin trailer hitch cable

So this is a stupid question, but I would like to get some advice before I attempt to remove it and accidentally break something.

 

So i bought something similar to this which replaces the 7pin with a 7pin and a 4pin connector as well.

I would like to use the extra 4 pin to attach it for break light strip that i would like to install.

 

So how do i remove the original oem 7 pin harness safely? I think i need to remove the spare tire to get at it.

What year of truck do you have? My '15 Sierra has an OEM 7/4-pin connector.

My truck is a 14. I want an extra 4 pin connector that's behind the bumper to hide for use.
