Banged up my Silverado last night....Ran into the back of a Honda HRV. Could have been much worse!

Nope, no hitch or ball. I was a little surprised as how my bumper folded in as well. Here is the HRV.

Nope, When the traffic slowed, I was worrying about the guy behind me who was on a trike. I was afraid he was going to be squashed against my rear bumper. I should have worried more about what was happening in front of me though...No air bags deployed, no lights or glass broken, no one injured.

Sad to say, there's still likely to be a fair amount of damage "underneath it all." As long as no one was hurt...

A word of advice... GET RID OF THAT COMBO PLATE. There are very, VERY few scenarios where they are necessary and you can operate with a standard vehicle plate and cut your reg fees in half. You're just wasting money otherwise. CT loves to dole out the FUD (fear, uncertainty, and dread) about how the standard plate isn't legal in NY and a bunch of other similar stuff - it's all lies. You absolutely do not need one simply because it's a pickup truck.

That really is a strange dent marking on the bumper. Really looks like you hit a hitch or a pole of some sorts.

Sorry that happened. Since no one was hurt you can look on the bright side. Now would be a good time to get a color matched bumper if you wanted to.

Really surprised a steel bumper would cave in and give way like that. At least it should be straight forward bolt off/bolt on and avoid any body work. My nemesis

The bumpers are meant to absorb the collision now.
