2013 Silverado long warm starting crank

Hi, I'm new to the forums but I need some help. I recently just purchased a 2013 Silverado 1500 5.3 from a private seller, and the truck is hard to start when it's warm. On a cold start it'll fire right up but when warm it'll complete 1 full cycle then it'll stop trying to start and on the 2nd time it'll fire right up every time. I tried "priming" before starting and I still have the same problems. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!

How are you "priming" it? How many miles are on it?

I turn the key to the on position wait about 5 seconds turn it off for about 3 seconds then turn it to the on position again and start it. Has 31K on it.

That should do it if the fuel pump is bleeding off. With that mileage, check to see if you are still under warranty. If not, then you need to start by testing the fuel pressure.

Call a dealer and give them your mileage, ask what warranty is remaining.

Hi Sbeck24,

I noticed you are wondering about your warranty status, and have concerns about your Silverado firing up properly. Muddkatt suggested calling your dealer, were you able to contact them yet? I can reach out to them on your behalf to help facilitate a service appointment.

Also, I can research your warranty status on my end. If you could private message me your VIN, full contact information and preferred dealer to work with.

Best,

Julianne M.
