Tire Pressure and MTRs

My truck's tire placard recommends 60 front and 80 rear with the original load range 'E' tires. Those tires had a capacity of 3042# when fully inflated to 80psi. I have run at these recommended numbers for 18K miles.

My new MTRs have a capacity of 3195# in a load range 'D' tire when fully inflated to 65psi.

Should I run the MTRs at full and the fronts at 75% of capacity like the orignial tires? What are others running.

FWIW, the tires are 285/70R17 or roughly 33X11.5.

Thanks.

I wouldn't run pressures as high as you do, unless you are fully loaded. Your truck weighs about 6K lbs, and doesn't need that much air in the tires. All that would do is create a choppy ride, and wear in the centers of the tires (especially the rears).

I run my 265's (load range E) at 55/50 psi frt/rr.
