35'' off road tires and electric steering?

To those running bigger heavier tires on your 1500's, do you notice a difference in how the truck steers? I want to up my tire size but I am concerned that it will kill the electric power steering in a few years time. I know the warranty won't cover it because of the obvious change in tire.

I purchased mine from the dealer with 35s. Electric power steering with 35 inch tires is a non-issue.

I also bought mine from the dealer with 35s and I haven't had any issues. Just gas mileage and that's about it.

That is a nice Black Widow Vic15! I really wanted a Silverado version of that truck but I ended up getting a Rocky Ridge Alpine Silverado. I got it because it was cheaper and I can still fit it in my garage with a 4" lift. The black widows look bad @$$ though!

I bought mine bone stock so it had the regular Goodyear SRA tires on it before the lift and tires and can say I notice zero difference in the way the truck handles mechanically. I'm positive you won't have an issue either.

Thanks SilveradoMoe! I do enjoy driving this truck. I think the Rocky Ridge Alpine is pretty beefy as well, the first time I saw one was after I purchased mine.

while there is really no difference in drivability, dont think for a second that you aren't losing life out of the rack.. I believe they are about $900-1000 for a replacement.

Daughters 4x4 had huge all terrains on it when she got it. Has had the power steering repaired twice and was running it without when I visited. She really had to manhandle the wheel. Also noticed her tires were near bald. Convinced her to drop down to something close to the stock size and helped her get new tires. The difference was amazing to her. I even noticed engaging the clutch it stopped the shuddering. It steers so much easier now too. She couldn't believe the difference.

Obvious the extra work the power steering had to make up with the larger tires took out the actuator twice.

Her clutch will probably last a lot longer too.

So I bet the Chevy's with electric steering will not feel any more effort with bigger tires for now, but how long will the components last? Something to consider anyways.
