Ipod Nano troubles

Does anyone have trouble hooking up a generation 8 Ipod Nano though the USB? Sometimes it works fine. Most of the time the truck does not recognize it is plugged in and only charges the ipod.

I only have about 200 songs on the ipod.

I plug into the USB in the glove box and have had no issues.

I've tried every usb port I can find. All the same.

Oh, I forgot, it's a 2016 sierra SLT 1500. If that matters.
