2007 2500 hd reg cab work truck

going to look at a 2007 gmc 2500 reg cab work truck model 4x4 for my son. will be his 1st ride.anything to look for . truck has 111,000 on it thanks

Trans fluid color, look at the ABS brake unit and lines for RUST..

Johnny - other than the things that Bruce talked about, depending on which transfer case the truck has on it you should also look for the "dreaded pump rub'. Crawl under the truck and see if there's any signs of oil anywhere near the transfer case. There are several threads about it in this forum - just do a search for pump rub and read through them. I bought a 2004 a few months ago, and sure enough it had the pump rub issue. I was lucky enough to catch it before it did any damage to the internals, and was able to fix it fairly cheaply using information I found here. Good luck to you!

thanks for the replies but truck got sold before i got there. im going to keep looking for a 2007 or newer and ill keep that stuff in mind. im running a 2013 crewcab duramax now but want to find him a reg cab since it will be his first ride

found another to look at tomorrow. another 2007 but this is a 3500 hd wt .is the big difference the rear suspension to allow more weight carrying? and i assume ill be looking at the brake lines and transfer case for leaks? truck has 88,000 miles, original owner. dealer low balled him on trade for a new 2016 gmc so hes selling it himself. thanks

3/4 ton and one tons are essentially the same truck, except the spring pack for the rear is heavier on the 3500.
