Well, I blew it this time!

I have been having problems with my dash for almost a year. I was planning on exploring the fuse box in the engine compartment when the weather cooled down and haven't gotten around to it.

This morning, I started the truck and the dash was completely dead.....no lights....no warning lights....no gauges.....nothing.

So I managed to get it into drive and started to drive to work. About 3 miles down the freeway, I thought I better stop because the turn signals don't seem to be working, I don't even know if I have any brake lights.

So I get off the freeway and get out of the truck, and the brakes are smoking.....I left the parking brake on. TERRIFIC!

Well, nothing I can do now, so I continue my drive to work.

As I am driving to work, the dash is indicating that Stabilitrak is off and Traction Control is off, and it says Service Traction Control. The chimes are going off and I keep pushing that button below the radio hoping it will do something and nothing changes. I am so frustrated, I probably burned up the sensors in the wheels. TERRIFIC !

I park the truck at work and I can reach in through the rims and feel the rear brake drums. They are not burning, and not too hot. I leave about an hour later and drive to a clients, and the dash is not indicating anything with the Traction Control or the Stabilitrak.

So maybe I have lucked out and only need to check out the rear brakes (drum brakes on my truck) and see what damage was done. Hopefully it will only need new shoes.

I am taking this truck into the shop and telling them to keep it until the dash works right, or they can keep working on it. I am fed up with this.

Just got the truck back from the shop not a dealer. They said the got a code U0140. Loss of communication with the Body Control Module.

They said as they were scanning the truck, they could see things turning on and off. They said all connections in the fuse box look clean.

They also gave me a copy of the TSB #14515B Chassis Electronic Control Module Internal Contamination.

Of course the warranty is out of the truck so I will have to pay for this myself.

This is the third thing that has gone wrong with my truck and all of them were in TSB's that no one ever told me about. This is crazy.

How many other TSB's are out there that I won't know about until the truck breaks down.

So luckily I have a neighbor that works as a service writer at the local Chevy dealer, I may stop by and see her and see what she can do for me.

Oh, the rear brakes were 80% and no damage. I have 69,000 miles on the truck so I am thankful that they are ok....I was stressing over having a rear brake job at this low mileage.
