Looking at 2014 Denali 6.2L

I am in the market for Sierra 1500, and found a 2014 Denali 6.2L for what seems like a good price. It has 70k miles on it, but I put less than 8k on my vehicle/ year, so am not too concerned about driving up the miles on a high mileage truck. What I am concerned about is the reliability of this truck/engine/transmission. I started searching for issues and was seeing issues with vibrations, slipping gears, etc, but being new to GM and trucks in general, was not sure how much that only effected the 2015 8 speed transmissions, and not the 2014 (I think it has a 6 speed still).

 

Any help you guys can provide prior to purchase would be great. Overall seems like a very nice truck cosmetically, but as we all know, it is what you can't see that can really spoil buying a vehicle.

I have a 2014 Sierra with the 6.2, 4WD and max tow. I've never had any issues with it at all. Just have it checked by a good mechanic BEFORE you sign anything.

If the owner kept it for 70k I doubt there were issues. My 14 is the best truck I've owned!

I would expect you need to start throwing money at it after 100k miles. Same as any used car. Make sure to have a mechanic look at it before purchase.

If it's for sale at a dealer, you might want to look into an extended warranty if they offer it. My truck has 40k on it and it's been great.

I have guys that worked for me that buy GM trucks and SUVs with 150k miles for around 5-6K and drive them for years than resell them for around the same price with a few improvements on them. My brother Inlaw buys them new and usually drives them close to 300K miles. His wife puts about 150K on as a family ride, gets a new one then he puts the rest on as a work vehicle. I wouldn't be afraid of any full sized GM vehicle.
