io3 to io5 radio upgrade

I have a 2014 GMC sierra 1500 with a 4.2" screen(io3) and was wanting to upgrade to an io5. I am having trouble finding anything on how to do this without spending 1000 dollars or more. I was thinking of buying the hmi module and touch screen off ebay and getting them programmed somewhere but I don't know if it works like that. Any one have ideas?

I have the io5 and have found videos on how to go to io6. The cheapest I have seen my upgrade is $795. That includes the gps antenna and the io6 module with proper programming for my vin specific truck. I think these are still expensive upgrades for us.

Don't want to be pessimistic or one of those guys that jump to "sell the truck", but it's a pain in the ass especially when on a budget. I bought my truck in Feb of 2015 and have wanted to do the upgrade since. I drove a Tahoe the other day with CarPlay and was done. Yesterday I went to the Chevy dealership to see about a trade in for a 16. Trade in was way under KBB and I treat my truck like a baby so I will be trying a GMC dealership this weekend. But back to the upgrade. The whole center has to be taken out and replaced with new modules and obviously the screen. I believe it's 2 modules, the "radio", and the screen and then harnesses that have to be custom made. If I'm not mistaken, I believe MVI is the only company to do the full upgrade that would be worth it. The io3 system is terrible and I'm frankly fed up with it. It's not the only reason I want to trade in, but it's a big factor. Good luck!! If you have any questions feel free to shoot me a PM, I'm pretty savvy with these trucks... unfortunately haha

Yea I understand that. I can get the modules and screen for 500 bucks but its the harness and programming that Im still unsure of. I was thinking of getting the screen and modules and then figure out how the harness and programming would work. Im thinking that I could get the correct harness that goes into a truck with io5 and use that for my truck for the upgrade. My brothers a mechanic at a chevy dealership so I might have him help me figure out the parts and all.
