Wiring Harness - help!

Recommended Posts

I have a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban. I want to put an aftermarket video entertainment system in it. I got under the hood and found an un-used 25 Amp circuit that I'd like to tap into inside the firewall. (This way I won't have to try to run a new line through the firewall). The circuit is for a power sunroof. I have no sunroof installed, but it appears to be a good/hot circuit with a fuse installed in the block.

Does any one out there have access to find out which color wire comes through the firewall to support the power sunroof?

Thanks,

Layne

Just personal preference,

But I like to run new wire for that kind of stuff on its own fuse. Figure if something goes bad your not going to dammage any factory stuff. I know your trying to avoid this....But may be worth it in the end. Hate to short out something in a brand new truck

The other problem can be that the wire runs through the data bus. I f it does it may not be hot on the other side if your truck did not come with sunroof. Computer will not pass the power through. With the way that GM has done the new Data bus I would agree with the previous post that it is better to run a new wire. Glenn

So where should I draw power from. I want it to be on an ACC connection so when power is shut off on truck, battery won't be drained from a DVD player and screen left on.

Thanks,

It's best to make a separate harness for the aftermarket hookups. Using the factory harness like you're wanting to do can actually be cause for not honoring any of your base 3/36 warranty as well as any part of your extended.

Things are getting too intergrated. For example if your aftermarket equipment induced noise on the harness, it could be induced to other power circuits or sensor feeds, say if you had quadrasteer and you report problems of the rear end wanting to go the opposite direction.
