My buddy who's a diesel mechanic swapped out the crank sensor on my 2001 6.0 in 20 minutes max. Cost of part was $60. The genuine GM sensor was around $100

I dont believe the knock sensor is under the manifold on the 8.1L I think there is a left and right side sensor on the block.
