LED vs HID

Anyone experience with both led and HID headlights? Always have had HID headlights, but they sometimes flicker and wondering which one is better and brighter. And pics or personal experiences with both?

For aftermarket, I much prefer LED. From the factory, I prefer HID.

I've had LMZ 4500 LEDs and HIDs in stock projectors and FXR 3.0 projectors that I now have retrofitted into my headlights.

 

I vote for HIDs

 

Reasons:

HIDs are generally more cost effective for better quality

Throw light further down the road, ie the light remains more intense for a longer distance

Don't require to be cooled by a large cooling fan on the back of bulb

If you live in a snow area, then the HIDs will help melt ice and snow off your headlights

 

Pros for LED (just to be fair)

Lifespan is far longer

LMZs were adjustable so I could focus more on wide lighting or distance lighting. While HIDs are just 1 option. But that 1 option is the best of both worlds

Instant on/no warm up

 

 

Btw. Noticing it looks like you have a Silverado. If you have the non-projector headlamps then pls upgrade to some projectors if you go HID. Don't be that guy that blinds everyone.

Also a great place for some info on lighting options is "Headlight Junkies" on Facebook. It's about 10K people. Many of which are professional retrofitters and enthusiasts.

Leds don't have the "throw" a halogen or hid bulb does when put in a reflector housing.
