Finally bought a muffler for the 6.2

After countless hours researching exhaust options for my 2011 6.2 I decided on a flowmaster 53553 big block 50 series. St first I dismissed Flowmaster because you always hear it doesn't flow well. Though in theory it's supposed to work with exhaust scavenging to flow well in the normal driving rpm range. It may not for as well in high rpm use, I don't know, but I know most of my driving isn't quite at red line. I have had flowmaster on my 2003 HD 6.0 and it sounded great but dang did it ever drone! Had a Magnaflow in a 5.3 that droned too though.

I decided to leave the resonator on in hopes that it will help remove some of the resonance and already having a stock 3.5" system I saw no reason to change anything except the muffler. Flowmaster only offers it in a aluminized version so it may rust but the picking in the straight through style like Magnaflow can break down after a couple years and get louder so either way I could be replacing a muffler anyway. I can't wait to get the thing installed and hear that rumble !! I swore to myself when I bought this truck new that I wasn't going to mod it..I just couldn't help myself though.

My muffler was finally delivered and here I am at the shop getting it installed. I'm keeping the resonator on the truck in hopes of very little drone and I should find out here in a few if it works out. I still haven't learned why GM decided to use a huge 3 - 1/2" pipe on these trucks..especially considering that the newer more powerful 6.2 trucks use smaller piping. I'm not expecting an much in the way if power or mileage gains if any..I am hoping not to lose and low end torque which is why I didn't go with a straight through design like Magnaflow, etc.
