henrypbui Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Anyone have a DIY for removing them? I know of the fishing line method but then cleanup and polish/wax? What if you still see the outline from few years of being on there? I dont like the fishing line as it can be harmful to the paint if you are not used to it. if you want to use a line of some sort, use dental floss. get some dental floss, goo gone, plastic "razor" blades, microfiber towels, and a heat gun/hair dryer. be slow and careful and dont rush it or you will damage your paint. pre heat your emblems with the heat gun/hair dryer, check if you can peel up the emblems by hand or not. if you cant, you can use the floss to cut away at the adhesive. It is cleaner if you dont have to cut it off with the floss and makes it easier for clean up with the goo gone. use the goo gone and microfiber towels to clean up any excessive adhesive and residue.

What if you still see the outline from few years of being on there? 16 pound fishing line , wifey hair dryer, adhesive eraser wheel I sprayed a little goof off before heating the letters, bowtie make sure to clean the area before eraser wheels are worth every penny... did my tailgate in like five minutes... took me longer to get set up... my last truck i spent over a hour on the bowtie and like 20 minutes on the letters. Marv88 Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 I didn't care for the large bowtie nor the bare tailgate look however the SILVERADO on the bottom left looked "out of balance" to me even after adding the LS emblem on the right so I ended up moving it to the center by itself (I also color matched the handle).
