17"×8" factory steel wheel/spare load rating
henrypbui replied to henrypbui's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
I have found multiple PNs for these wheels same design. The 1s described for WT wheels are selling a little over $50 a wheel as the spares are $130 or more for black, silver, and 1 with no mention. Steels should be 17x8 and the aluminums i have found sellers/forum members are saying 17x7.5 anr 17x8. I know my K2XX are 17x8 steel take offs i have and aluminum were 17.x7.5 spares. Part #s i have found Gm steel wheel part #s 86508934 black not sure of what material 84947816 aluminum spare wheels 84440191 silver steel spare wheels 560-08130 Black steel spare wheels 84927607 stock front and rear steel wheels The last part # 84927607 are selling at dealers online from $48-80, locally my search shows $60 cheapest. All the other wheels are almost 3xs the price. Personally I like the looks of the steel wheels better than most aftermarket steel wheels. Even the aluminum spares look good, just they probably wouldnt be a good wheel to tow up to 10k lbs with being a cast wheel from china dependent if there is an actual load rating for them around 2300lbs. Or so. Example of the steel wheels repainted on a GX470 -
17"×8" factory steel wheel/spare load rating
henrypbui replied to henrypbui's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
Thank you on this. I have a 2014 Sierra and dont have access to them personally. The wheel also should have its own load rating separate from the tire itself. I am more curious as to if the steel spares are the same wheels or not. The part #s are different and the wheel prices are very different in range from the spares to the actual 4 wheels. These look pretty good IMHO is why i am asking, and not able to go around to check them out myself right now in the near future. They could be a good cheap alternative for wheeling. Do you know if your aluminum wheels are like the old 17x7.5 or updated 17x8? my search has been inconsistent on the actual width of the aluminum wheels. Also, is there a wheel load rating embossed in the back side of that spare? -

Are these the 18"x9" with 0 offset? And are they still for sale?

Did the shop try and fit the hood on the 14-15 front end to see how the fitment would be?

Slow conversion to prerunner-like
henrypbui replied to 6.2Chevy's topic in Modifications & Accessories
That truck has their front long travel suspension and cantilever rear (which they no longer offer, pretty pricey btw). IMHO, not running a long travel or at least a mid travel front, you will still not get the proper look.- 20 replies

Looks promising for the 2014-15 guys. This truck looks to have the original 1500 hood with the HD front end. BTW, 14GMC15, you did your hood swap at a good time. The prices are quite a bit higher than when you got your hood. roughly $1150 shipped from gmpartsdirect now

2016 SLT lights in 14/15 SLT/All Terrain almost done
henrypbui replied to zmnypit's topic in Modifications & Accessories
Does anybody by chance have the tail light wiring diagram/pinout for the plugs? I would like to know which pins are the brake and signal lights. Also, how they are controlled and maybe if we can separate it. Wanting to add a diffuser and LEDs in the rectangular reflector portion for the brake lights. -
Do you know how the clearance is in the engine bay where that water trap would be? I am guessing that is behind the driverside headlights and in the space of the spare battery compartment? Wondering if my catch can will clear.

the 14-15 1500 hood is in fact different in style than the 15-16 hd hood. the hd hood has a "bulge" one might say and has a different look. the main thing i wonder is how does it line up with our grills? it looks like we have the same grill design on the upper portion for the 14-15 1500 as the hd grills.

Any body do this to the 14-15 1500s yet? I would like to see the fitment of it on ours.

That actually looks good with the metal accent. Hmm, to install my all black or get those?

I don't know if this was posted in here yet, but for those with OEM tow mirrors that want the smoked lense, there are a few places that sell the replacement lenses or you can buy the whole led replacement smoked from here. https://www.boostautoparts.com/collections/tow-mirror-parts/products/marker-lights I am debating on getting the 1A mirrors and selling my DQS mirrors as it doesn't have the puddle light and I can just repin the 1A mirrors without the jumper harness.

Deleted pics for easy scrolling. Arkie, do you have links to the latching relays and box you found on amazon?

on that note, what do you think about the 5160s designed for the gmt trucks on our k2xx trucks or is bilstein developing production models specifically valved for our trucks?

What have you done to your K2 today?

ah, at the angle of the picture it made it look like you had a form fitting 1 against the edge of the hood. but for the patch, it would be hard to tell without seeing it in person because once again, angles play a big difference in paint reflection where as the vinyl doesnt change as much from lighting. good luck with your color matching -

what hood protector is that you have on your truck? -
Any idea how much travel will be gained from the 6112 setup versus the stock travel? And by chance, do you know the actual stock travel front and rear?

I didn't want to quote your whole post as it was quite long with the pictures and texts. This is the problem with the automotive aftermarket. Most people don't know the history and background of a company and only go by price or reputation for the most basic items with no real information and the effect of the item, for instance your example of the Mishimoto can. Mishimoto was and is a knock off brand with little to no R&D in any of their products, like most companies, whether they are ebay sourced or even "reputable" shops that just rebrand Chinese/Tawainese knock offs. The auto enthusiast needs to inform themselves in what they are buying and the effects of what they are buying. In all of my research, I only felt their were really a select few cans that I would have bought myself for my 95 TT Supra, 67 Yenko Camaro, 92 Civic, 97 98 99 SC300, 93 94 95 MR2, 00 Integra, and most recently my 14 Sierra. Other than my Sierra, I went with the Saikou Michi can, as it had the best design I believed would work. All my others were custom setups. The RX can came up in a close second if not tied for an easy mod not a custom can. Informing oneself in what you are adding to your vehicle is the main thing that as a whole our community is lacking. I commend you for adding information for everybody to review and learn, but choosing the worst cans you can think of and comparing is a biased comparison in my opinion. To many others it is not because their lack of knowledge in the subject. With that said, GDI Tech is steering everybody in the right direction. Take his information in and do your own research and decide what is best for you. There are plenty of information out there on the internet from Japanese import forums, European Import forums, and Domestic forums to help. Pretty much, if a company will not have documentation how their products are designed or work, they probably aren't worth it and just smoke and mirrors. Don't go by just looks. I would love to name a few companies for yall, but most are custom one off parts and that is not what the majority are looking for. But for our community with the basic bolt on and minimal work, I would go with RX and Saikou Michi for yall.

Replace rear window with slider
henrypbui replied to chevy15's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
I use mine quite often because of the turbulence with the regular windows. Now with that said, I would prefer the view of a solid window instead of the tiny slider. Wish the big 3 would copy Toyota and do the full roll down rear like the crew cab Tundra and 4Runner. That would be the best of both worlds. You get the perfect amount of ventilation with no turbulence and unnecessary to roll any other window down with the great rear view. -

any link to where you got the bulbs and maybe a description of what you did? also, any problems with fast blink? -
Does anybody know if the tailgates on the silverado and sierra the same? Same with short, regular, and long bed; also 1/2, 3/4, and 1 ton. I looked at the part numbers and they show different for short, long, and regular bed. So are these interchangeable or there will be a fitment issue?
