Left on Dec. 8 to drive to FL, then to NC, then to VA; to combine a work trip with a hunt test trip with a visit friends trip......................just got home last night. Twas just me, my dog, my hand tools, cooler, clothes bag and other essentials.

Trip was almost exactly right at 3000 miles based on my odometer. When I left it was 16*F.........................got up to almost 85*F while I was in FL.......................and was -4*F when I got home. Drove thru strong winds, rain, sleet, ice pellets, snow, fog..............hills, flats and mountains................sometimes averaging 40mph due to snow and fog and wind................sometimes averaging 80mph. The whole spectrum almost.

Truck ran great, not a single problem. Turned 10,000 miles on the trip.............bought truck on July 13, 2016!! The "Range V4" lockout device worked perfectly. Averaged 19.5mpg 1st tank.............20.5mpg 2nd tank..........19.1mpg 3rd tank (running 80+mph for 400 miles).............18.0 4th tank (headwind the whole way).................and 18.6mpg the 5th tank. These are hand calculated numbers!! I'm sitting on about 5/8th's tank left from the last fill.

Truck saw an almost 90*F temperature swing on the trip. And I did bring a variety of clothes!!!

Mileage wasn't as good as I though it might be, but the weather didn't always cooperate...............crosswinds and headwinds much of the trip...............and when I did have the wind, I put the hammer down and was running 80+. This past summer on a couple trips I was getting 21-22mpg religiously. IMHO; it was the wind, temps and driving style that brought down the mileage on this trip.

Still happy though!!

Whats the range v4 lockout device?

A module you plug into the OBD II port to keep the truck in V8 mode.

A description of your truck would help. We are scheduled for a NJ - Marathon, FL trip in February and I have a fair idea of what to expect (unless vibration shows it's ugly head). We might have 2,000 miles on it by then. Once you pass 65MPH mileage takes a noticeable hit but you didn't do that bad at all at those speeds! That lockout device for the V4 is intriguing.......................

My truck is in my signature.

Sure you can, but why would you? You would be missing a gear at 80 Mile an hour, rpm would be way up, and probably be lucky to get 15 mpg.......

This^^^^^

In 6th at 70mph, my truck is turning 1750rpm's...............at 80mph, she's turning 2000rpm.

:wtf: Because you got rid of the V4 mode that saves mpg...

I don't think at the speed that he was running, and the amount of need wings that he had that it would have went into v4 any how. Mine rarely goes into v4 at 75mph unless I'm going down hill or zero wind

Why do you want to get rid of the V4 mode? It seems pretty seemless
