Door Jambs

Hello,

This will sound stupid, I'm sure, but I'm going to ask anyways...

Is there a way to prevent road debris (mostly water) from getting into certain parts of the door jambs? I hate when they get dirty inside and always clean them, but would prefer to keep the road water on the outside of the truck. It only happens in the two areas (both sides of the truck). Both are circled on the picture, but it's at the front of the front doors and the back of the front doors before the crew cab doors. I have oversized mud flaps and running boards. I thought both would keep this from happening but apparently not.

Thanks for any tips you may have.

Check your weather striping at the corner. After time and hundreds and hundreds of heat and cool cycles it can flatten out and allow the outside in! Try putting a piece of foam (sticky on one side) on the inside next to the rubber and see if this helps. Just make sure that you get the foam big enough to go above what you have there now. If this works, order yourself new rubber for both your door's and your problem should be solved!

As a side note, I polish and wax both the door and frame on my Chevy Van which not only keeps the rubber from sticking it also makes clean up a breeze. A quick wipe and it shines like new. Good luck!

Thanks for the tips. I regularly clean the door jams (call it OCD lol) and the truck only has 40k KM's on it, parking underground so the temperature variances are very minimal where I am. The stripping around the door looks fine but I feel like it's getting in where there is no stripping. I'll look at your idea of adding some additional though. Thanks!

Don't leave the foam on too long! It'll be tough to get off. If it does stick use a little WD40 to remove any left over stickem! And as far as OCD goes, I'm the president of my chapter!! LOL.

Isn't that just normal? I can't recall any vehicle where the door jambs stay totally dry.

You're probably right, but most of the door jambs stay dry so why not these couple of spots? Not saying it's a defect or anything, just more of an annoyance on my part :)

The door jambs are just not water tight. After I wash my truck I usually just go around with a microfiber and wipe down the jambs and rocker panels. A bit of a pain but it only takes a couple minutes. (Charter member of "Anal Detailers Club") :nonod:

But I'm retired so a few extra minutes to dry the door jambs is OK with me... gives me something to do.
