Use Siri/Android Assistant

Hi Everyone - I have a 2011 Silverado LT Z71, with the stock radio. It has XM built and there's a USB port in the dash . I also have OnStar but not subscribed.

In my other vehicles with a stock radio with bluetooth built in, I can hold down the bluetooth or call button for a few seconds and it activates Siri on my iPhone, or the Google assistant on my Android. In the Silverado, holding or pressing the button causes the built in system to ask me for a command.

How can I get it to activate my my phone and bypass the built in voice commands? I like to use Siri to ask for directions or send a text all by voice.
