Has anyone removed the chrome on the side mirrors? If so, how do you do it?

The manual doesn't show anything about the mirror except replacing the glass and the remote control stuff. If the chrome was meant to come off, they would have shown it as a separate piece. I can only guess it's stuck on with two sided tape or some other goo.

GF...........Don't mess with it !!!!!

It is not a seperate chrome piece ! It is just chrome colored tin foil ! Just plain old black plastic underneath!

Ask Ryan around here.......He peeled his off and painted the plastic to match his truck..............geo

I just took mine off this past week and repainted them. Just use a stiff putty knife and carefully pry them off. You can't dent them, they are ABS plastic.

 

THere are 4 snap tabs and a few patches of double sided tape. Underneath are a few holes so I don't see how painting the underside would look good at all

i used a butter knife in a sawing motion to get through the 3m DS tape. Also like Joe said there are 4 clips.

 

If you plan on removing them and having nothing there i wouldnt recommend it because it looks like %^$#^%# without the chrome piece.

 

I too painted mine blue at first and now this spring i painted them black
