Good morning guys,

Looking to see if anyone knows the stall speed of the stock converter for a 6.2 truck with the 6l80E transmission, was thinking about doing the Zl1 torque converter being that it is dual disc and 1900-2000 stall. thank you in advance

Sorry, no good answer for you, but I'd be interested in the answer myself. Generally, a lesser powered same vehicle would have a looser converter. I'd bet the 5.3 has a looser converter than a 6.2. When I had my TBSS I put a 6 cylinder converter in it. It cut a tenth off the 60 ft time. Have you tried calling circle D.

I have not, I think I stumbled across some place that the truck is 1600 stall and the cts v/zl1 is 1800. And I guess circle d can loosen it up to if a guy wants

Step hard on your brakes and reeve the engine until the rpm doesn't go higher.

That's not an exact result but it'll give you an idea.

And the stall speed is kind of a combination of the engine power and the converter.

You can reach higher rpm with a stronger engine and the same converter.

Don't hold it at stall for more than 10-15 seconds. The trans fluid will heat up in no-time.

so long

My truck seems a lot looser than 1600. Circle d can take a stock converter and restall it to a pretty high practical stall. They do stock TBSS converters to about 3200. They do the same for the 6L trannys also.
