MyLink System Slow and Incorrect Indexing USB

So about two weeks ago my MyLink system in my 2015 Silverado starting acting up(worked great for about a year). At first it would not play certain songs I selected, defaulting to the first song on my USB drive, and that just kept getting worse and worse. Thus, I thought that maybe the drive was screwed up, 64gb micro Sandisk with 16gb used to approx 3500 songs. I went to reformat the drive, and did some research that Fat32 was the only file system allowed. However my windows 7 system would only do exFAT. Tried that and the truck wouldn't even recognize it. So I looked in my manual and it said that NTFS was also allowed, tried that and it did recognize the music. However, its painfully slow. So bad that when just trying to change songs (same artist) using the up button on the steering wheel, it takes like 5 seconds. Not to mention that it take another 5 to load to the screen after it has already started playing. I read somewhere to do the factory reset and change the name of my USB drive. Did all that with no changes in behavior. I though that the USB drive might be bad, however I would think it wouldn't recognize it at all if that was the case.

 

Has anyone ever had this issue? Is there some other type of reset that I can try?

well FAT32 only allows 32GB partition size. FAT32 and exFAT arent the same thing. suprised it allows NTFS. Though NTFS has addional information that causes overhead in some situations. Not sure why it would be slow in your vehicle though.

Well it seems I solved the problem. I formatted my 64gb drive to Fat32 using 3rd party software, and now all is good, just like it was in the beginning. Although the manual says MyLink is NTFS compliant, I wouldn't advise it at all. Why windows 7 will not allow a larger partition than 32gb for FAT32, I dunno. Another reason to ditch for Red Hat.
