modifications and upgrades 2011 LML

New to the site and new to diesels. Just picked up a 2011 sierra 3500HD and am trying to educate myself. I am curious what advice I could solicit from you all in regards to upgrades and modifications. I use the truck for work/daily driver. what advice would you have in regards to what improvements are worth it and in what order I should go after it all....seems because of the way GMC does things a lift pump would be a good idea...and efi live??? and if I were to go with efi live, because I'm not going to be in any sort of competitions would it make sense to get one that is pre loaded with different tunes? The truck already has a cold air intake and a aftermarket exhaust and 4" lift.

Thanks

Well you have a good start with the exhaust and intake. I think a lift pump would be a good idea. Just kind of a safety and to add just some extra filtering of the fuel. Also EFI live is great! I have it on mine and it definitely woke the truck up. I went with ATP trucks AutoCal and it is super easy to install. It has 5 different tunes and like I said before it really wakes it up. Just my 2 cents. Goodluck

Thanks for the 2 cents!

Ha! I'm a total newbie... by deleted, you mean EGR delete?

If so, not deleted....I was curious about the EGR deletes....seems to make sense to delete, but then don't I have a problem getting it thru emissions? I gotta do some more reading ;)

So, I've owned a diesel for less then two weeks (recently traded in a tundra for something that could work a little harder) I know what DPF and DEF are and those systems are in place still....don't know what DOC stands for....but what ever it is....safe bet it hasn't been deleted.

Guessing you would suggest researching some various deletes?

Alright, after just reading a few articles, I'm guessing your asking in regards to the extent of the aftermarket exhaust...just the can and tail pipe are after market...

Also, just in my limited knowledge I would be hesitant to remove some of those emission systems, being my daily driver and living in seattle, Washington. Though recirculating exhaust into the intake combustion air doesn't make a lot of sense to me....

doc is the diesel oxidation catalyst. And those filter-back exhausts do absolutely NOTHING but look better. No performance or sound difference what so ever.

Well, shit...I feel pretty stupid...

Was crawling around under the truck and I think it has been deleted....cause what I got does not match the pictures/diagrams online. Don't think I have def/dpf/doc....though the def tank is still there(probably to give the appearance the system still is)

So what the hell do I do now?

(Assuming I need to have someone who knows more about diesels then I do give it a look)

I haven't owned the truck for long, it's running great...but I didn't think these systems were removed, and if they are there must be a tune it's running?

Did I buy a problem?

you didn't necessarily buy a problem, but sounds like it's deleted and tuned
