Sorry if this is a repeat question but the search engine said it was disabled. Has anyone installed a trans cooler on a 1996 4wd tahoe?? How difficult is it and where can i get one. Got new boat and need a cooler... Thanks for the help :D

Summit Racing , transmission shops , RV/Truck accessory places or parts stores should carry them. I would get the biggest one that will fit in front of your radiator. The more cooling you have the more you extend the life of your tranny. The instructions that come with them are pretty straight forward. You will have to remove your radiator plastic cover and maybe loosen your radiator mounts to lean it back a little to get the plastic zip tie mounts in there. All in all, not to complicated of a job. Good luck with your install :D

I installed the factory cooler on mine and overall it is definitely worth the little extra since you get the pre bent full length steel lines so no splicing and it mounts where the factory one would if you did have it when you bought it so it looks good as well.

I had to buy the tranny radiator last week. Paid $100 at the stealer. Mine cracked between a fin and started to leak.

Autozone sells a universal unit. Prices range depending on what size you get from $25 to $75.

I took a look at it but where it connected up would have been on the sides verses the bottom. I didn't want to have to hook up patch hoses from the steel lines to the sides of the cooler so I ended up at the stealers.

Hundred bucks for a piece of aluminum lighter than a beer can. :smash:
