OK I have had my truck for 3 or so months now and haven't had one ding or scratch added to it. I went shopping 2 days ago and I had my GF with me. We finally got tired and came home. Well she left her bag in the car so I went out to get it for her when I look at the side of my truck. I could not belive my eyes and I blerted some things that I regret due to my neigbors kids out side. Well I look even coler and am baffled. Not only do I have a silver Dollar size door ding but a nickel to quarter size scuffs and scrapes down to the metal.:fume::mad::fume::mad::mad: WTF do people not notice stuff like that. I mean yea my truck had quite a few blemishes but not from me. I am so angry. I will try to take some pics and show you. And I will include the blems that were there when I bought it. I think the only way for me to have this fixed is a whole new paint job but I really would rather not have to go through with that. I also have some rust bubbles starting on the rear cargo doors. Man that really killed my weekend.

But hey atleast it is on the passenger side and I don't see it everytime I get in the truck. Right :(

Can you believe some people, without a thought or care, actually FLING the doors of their cars as hard as they can until either the hinge or someone else's car stops it?

One day my wife and I went to the Post Office. As we were starting to leave, we took a moment to buckle our seatbelts. I couldn't believe it when some middle-aged heavy set woman in a brand new yellow Mustang GT flung her long door right into my wife's car with full force. We stared in shock as she went into the Post Office and we decided to wait for her to come out and confront her. When she came out, we were both pissed and started yelling at the woman who denied doing it at all, but little did she know were INSIDE THE CAR and saw/felt the whole thing! She decided to try to get away from us and DID IT AGAIN!!! It was hard enough to cause the whole 1/4-panel and rear bumper to shake. This time she was caught red-handed, and apologized profusely. It didn't do any damage but a few light scuff marks, so we let it go at that.

Now I REFUSE to park close to any other vehicles. I'll look for a space on the very edge where I can park over the line and put at least 4ft between my car and the other car. If I can't find an edge spot, then I park way out BFE where no one else parks. I'd rather walk 10-miles than get a door ding.

Sorry to here about that

Some People!!!!

They drive a piece of crap and just dont care if they swing their doors into a brand new or relatively new truck/car... or they are just too fu@kin lazy to put the shopping carts where they belong!!!

:fume: I feel your pain

I try to park as far away from other cars, trucks as I can. But for some reason someone must feel sorry for the lonely truck and have to park right next to it. I hate to hog parking spots but it's better than the dings. :fume:

That's why I have a crowbar in the trunk. I've had several run-ins with vehicles that had left their mark on my car. I leave with a ding and/or a scratch, and they leave with a broken window, rearview mirror, and a bent antenna. :fume:

I agree with all the comments posted so far. I don't park next to someone unless I really have to. If I'm parked at a shopping center, retail store, hardware store, or whatever the place may be, I'll park far away as possible. I think that the parking spaces are marked too close because store centers don't care about your car. They care about how many cars can be parked at their location. The more the better.

Stupid people! :fume: It's a shame that other people don't care enough about other people's property to respect it, esp since we worked so hard to get it!

I can barely fit my truck in some spots b/c they are so close together!

Sorry to hear that. That sux man! :fume:

Thanks guys. Yea I will definatly be parking in the back now. Away from population. And I purposly park right in the middle of the other cars so that they don't hit me. Oh well. I will have to get over it and just get it fixed.

I'm always careful around other vehicles, but do that to me or let me see you do it to another, and your dimwit butt will be in civil court so fast you won't be able to catch your breath. What a gold plated Richard Cranium!

I found a solution to the problem: Avalanche with cladding! Almost two years and no door dings.

Hey, I'm just as careful as you are. I ALWAYS park as far as I can away from other vehicles so this does't happen to me, but I've seen people park right next to me, even though there are 3-4 open spaces away from me on all sides. Then I see them smash their door into mine without thinking about it, and walk off, oblivious as to what they've just done. When I confront them, they give me a retarded look as if I was speaking to them in Japanese.

I hate to do it, but if that's what it takes to make those idiots understand that they are responsible for the damage they cause to my vehicle, because I was careful to not let it happen, they were not, and they do it anyway, then they better believe I'll be busting up their stuff.

If you're saying that I should just let that kind of thing happen to me over and over again, and not do a d**n thing about it, then you are sadly mistaken. Most of the time, I'm a laid back guy. But if you break or damage my belongings, all you have to do is step up to me, tell me what you did, and apologize and/or pay for the damage. If you don't, and expect me not to react, then you better be able to back up your act, because I'll bring it like there's no tomorrow. Believe that !

Sometimes an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth is the only thing some people understand.

Off the soapbox, but I hope I got my point across.

BTW: BlackSilver, I'm sure you meant well enough, but that "gold-plated Richard Crainum" remark was uncalled for. Come on, man. You're better than that.

Let's face it, living in NJ sucks!

Back in '91 when I bought my Sierra, I took it to a local bar that also had a food store there.

I came out to find a shopping cart right up against the side of my truck! I mean this thing only had 20 miles on it and a scratch already. I was ready to throw the shopping cart thru the windshield of the car next to me when my buddy said,"how do you know it was them?" He was right, I had no idea who it was, so I had to just shake it off and live with it.

Now that I have a spanking new Silverado(black no less) I'm extra careful about where I park that beast.
