Door Latch Replacement '15 Silverado

Has anyone ever had to replace their door latch before and if so, how did you do it? I'm new to Chevy trucks, been driving a Jeep my whole life. I have the new latch, just not too sure on how to switch it out.

Just did my 14 probably the same. Take door panel off, remove rubber window track, unscrew actuator, undo linkages and wiggle it out. It's easy once you figure out the right path to get it out. Took me about 2 hours start to finish and I had to remove my door panel a second time because I forgot to attach the door handle to the actuator.

Lots of failures as of late. Hopefully a recall soon.

Part is $42 at gmprtsdirect.com.

Call dealership, get part number, order from parts direct. Ships out of Canada so it takes a while, I had to unlock my truck from the back seat for a week before parts arrived.

Lots of failures as of late? Really, this is the first that this has been brought up on this board, do you have data that supports a mass failure? Second a recall is only issued for safety (life or death) instances, perhaps you meant TSB.

I've seen 2-3 other posts come up about replacing door actuators. My assessment has no science behind it just seems like a common conversation these days. Similar to F150 and the damper actuators, they all failed right at 3-4 years.

One of the posters had a good point. Picture the rear actuator failing and your kid is in the backseat expecting the door to be locked. Depending on how it failed (locked or unlocked) issues may arise.

When mine failed I didn't realize it at first. I just clicked auto lock on my keyless and went into work. Had no idea my truck drivers door was unlocked all day. And that lock button is easily visible just walking by the truck.

Are tsb's the work only covered by manufacturers if there IS a failure? Not a preemptive strike on the functional actuators but a reactive free replacement? I could see that happening.
