Huntaholic Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 We have an 03 2500 HD 4x4. it came factory with the trailering package. my question is: if I put one of the 7way to 4way adaptors in the factory receptacle, will my trailer lights work properly? I know the simple way to find out would be to just plug up to a known working trailer light system, but I dont have one yet!
badhammer Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 yes it will the only thing that won't work is the electric brake curcit as you need to install a brake controler and fuse but the tail lights and turn signals will work fine
jth7186 Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 ok, so now I have my own question: I haven't had my 03' long, and haven't yet bothered to check the box and see if a controller adapter was included... I do have the towing package. Does anyone know if GM shipped the trucks with the adapter plug already in place, or do I have to pay extra for it? I am under the impression that all we have to do is buy the external controller itself. Am I misguided??? Thanks...
Muddy Mike Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 not sure if an adapter comes with the towing package or not. i got my 01 truck used with a towing package. i just went to wal-mart and paid $10 for an adapter plug. works great!
Huntaholic Posted July 10, 2003 Author Posted July 10, 2003 Mine didnt come with ANYTHING and it has the factory towing package and 5th wheel, camper wiring provision. I found my 7 to 4 way adaptor lying in the road at a speed bump. With it having the "5th wheel wiring provision, I EXPECTED it to have a plug already mounted in the bed for the hook up, but NO al it has is the pigtail provision taped off to the frame rail underneath the truck.
