Engine life

I recently purchased a used 2005 5.3 gmc which has progressing problems. I was doing some research on how long engines can last. Most post say over 100,000 maybe 2. This vehicle currently has 405,429. Is this a good buy or shpuld i be getting my money back

going that far must be idling everywhere.

it will be goopy if you take it apart.

 

..unless fresh engine(s) along the way.

gas can only go so far. They even still use EGR to this day.(its an engine killer)

Holy crap batman that is a lot of miles.

 

From what I have seen around here 250k-350k was the limit for the 1999-2006 5.3 if it was taken care of. Still they had some issue here and there.

 

I have a 2006 Avalanche with 154k and hope to make it closer to the 250k mark before I need a major repair.
