Can someone try something for me? My 6.0l truck will shift out of park without pressing the brake pedal, when you trun the key to the first position.. Not run the one before that.... This is on top of a list of other issues I have had this week. I need to know if others can do this because I am going to the dealer in the AM... Someone please help me... Thanks

Just ran out to the garage and checked for you....

MY '01 will do the same thing... I can pull it through all the gears without my foot on the brake....

Thanks!!!

Dont' you find that a little weird... This is ment to keep the truck in park when the brake pedal is not pressed... I think its a huge saftey hazard.... I know it does not do it with other trucks... 1500 Series as I tried it at the dealer...

I thought it was a little strange...

I know it won't go into gear if the engine is running though unless I have the brake on.

Do me a favor and ask the Tech Guys tomorrow about it, and maybe there is a TSB that I don't know about...

Thanks

I will be asking bright and early tommrow morning... I got the feeling I am going to get the run around... They can not seem to make my tranny bang like I do every morning... Or just tonight when I picked it up...

It's not just your truck.

I've noticed on numerous GM vehicles that our family's had as company cars that they'd do the same thing in the accessory position. Typically they were all console-shifts, though, not column shifts. Interesting though. I wonder if GM's really aware of these "design flaws".

Talked to the dealer today.. Tried yet another truck on the lot and it did the same thing... They are thinking its like an over ride so if something like my truck getting stuck in park you can still tow it... They will be calling gm to find out about this... Does not state any where in the book that you can do this..... Maybe its a flaw that they have yet to discover :(
