2010 Sierra Electrical Issues

Hey All, first post on the site. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

I have an issue that has been driving me nuts for awhile and was further complicated today. The truck is a 2010 Sierra 1500 with a 5.3.

Starting maybe a year or so ago I was running into intermittent starting issues. The truck would randomly not turn over when I went to start it. The lights would come on, you could hear a single click from the starter, but nothing more. No turn over, not click click click. after a few minutes it will start like normal. There was also no pattern - it happen when the engine was hot, when it was cold, day/night, winter/summer, etc. Totally random. Eventually a few months ago it worsened to the point of the truck being unreliable. I tried replacing the starter - boom, problem fixed. Then about a month after the new starter went in it started doing the same thing. Very infrequent at first, now becoming more common. That is part 1 of the issue.

Part 2 - today my wife was driving the truck. She called to let me know that as she was going around a turn the truck started shuddering (she described it as feeling like she was rubbing a curb). She said when this happened it felt like a loss of power, all the lights on the dash lit up and the radio turned off. It lasted for a second then was fine. Related to part 1? I'm not sure but like the first issue, this sounds like an electrical issue.

Any thoughts? I've been scouring the web and can't find any discussion on the same issue.

I'd start by checking (tightening) all of your connections. A bad battery will exhibit some of the issues too. Did you try swapping it out?

With you being from Michigan the first thing I would do is replace the main GROUND wires, especially the big one off the battery. Sounds like a ground issue for sure, they can wreak havoc and be totally inconsistent

I checked the connections at the battery when I replaced the starter and they seemed fine. Whats weird is that the issue gets increasingly worse over time, as if something is causing the starter to die. If that makes sense.
