CB Antenna Mount

Recommended Posts

I want to install my old 4 foot whip cb antenna, and I want it on the side of my hood above the wheel. (this is where it was on my old truck) What is the strongest one, and are there any fitted mounts for certain trucks? I kinda heard of this, but no details. Any suggestions would help alot! Thanks

The best place to mount a CB antenna (or any transmitter antenna) is as close as possible to center of the roof of your vehicle. Go to a professional radio shop (the guys who put antennas on police cars) and ask them to do the work. It will cost you about $100 (plus the cost of the antenna), but your signal will be heard much better than a fender mount which have a distorted transmission pattern due to being right on the edge of the ground plane.

That is the best place, except my truck is so tall from the lift and stuff that the antenna would be 15 feet high!! The next best place I heard though is directly above the axle on the side of the hood, and that also puts it down kinda low, especially with a 3 or 4 foot whip, then it sticks up barely above the cab. I wish I could do a roof mount, they look cool.

I pulled in a truck stop. Walked out back to the "CB Shop". He sold me a mount which has 3-4in magnets. I have it on top of my roof. I bought the antenna from him too. It's a whopper. However, I only use the radio on trips so when not in use I unscrew the ant. and store it. I get great reception.

I customed built a mount for my CB ant... Its opsite of the radio ant on the driver side. I got directions from someone and then just built it myself... I wish I knew who I got them from... The only problem with my mount is the ant moves around a little to much for me. I need to strength the mount and I should be all set. When I get a second I will upload some pictures of it.

I found a great one. Just ordered yesterday. It uses an existing bolt under the hood to attatch so you dont have to drill holes. The guy I dealt with is VERY cool. Here is the link......
