GM Service

Hey everyone,

I took my 94' Silverado in to get serviced for the Wiper Control problem that hit the 94-97 Chevys. The service dept. manager was very nice over the phone, telling me to bring it right on in. I brought the truck in and told them what I needed done. They took the truck and I walked to the lot to check out the 02s and 03s for a bit. After about 20 minutes they call my cell phone telling me they can't fix it under recall, becuase I didn't bring the recall slip that was supposed to have been mailed to me (I'm 3rd owner, so I d**n sure didn't get no recall slip). He then tells me he can quote me a price on that and a few other things I wanted to look at it, but I'd be responsible for paying for the work (BTW, GM only has a 8 year 80,000 mile on catalytic converters). He then wastes another 45 minutes, and then calls me and tells me he can't even quote a price, because it would mean a technichian would have to spend time on them. I wasted over an hour, and got nothing accomplished. Service at Chevy dealers has really hit the crapper. :flag: Anyone know where I can get a hold of the recall info that was supposed to have been mailed to me??

I'd try calling GM customer service and talk to them about it. They may be able to send yoiu one or tell you where/how to get one.

Good luck.

I got in touch with GM Customer "Care" this morning. They said that my VIN number didn't fit the requirements for the recall. WTF is that!?! According to www.alldata.com it does, and I'm having the same issues as the "recall trucks". However I did come up on the Brake Light Polarity Recall (#98065 for those interested). I'm not ever sure what the hell that means. Clear Lake area Chevy owners might want to stay away from Norman Frede Chevrolet. Horrible service. And even when I called GM they weren't really that helpful. The lady pretty much told me I was screwed, without actually saying it. Geez....So, if ya got the same problem with the Wiper Control Switch like I did, might want to take it up with Dealer, and GM cause pretty good chance ya might not get it fixed. :flag::lol:

Yeah, i kinda had a similar thing happen. Installed the factory fog light kit on my 99, called the dealer to reprogram the BCM, he said no problem, bring it in on Saturday. Told me to get there early, because first come first serve on Saturday service. So, i was there at 7:20am. Well after they had the truck for a half hour, guy comes out and says they can't program the BCM because GM tech service is closed on Saturday's and they have to call them to figure out how to program it. So, now i have to take it in on a weekday to have it done. They should have known they couldn't do it on a Saturday. That's why i never take anything to the dealer. I do as much work as i can to my cars and trucks, the heck with taking it somewhere.

Thankfully the only issue with my truck is the "NORMAL" piston slap. The General's customer service isn't what it used to be. I think my next truck is going to be wearing some horns...

I had the same type runaround from the GM Service dept.

OUMike,

According to the recall in my Consumer Reports, your truck is on the list. It states ALL '94 Chevrolet and GMC pickups with 2 and 4 wheel drive.

It says to call this number for information:

Chevy - 800-222-1020

GMC - 800-462-8782

Olds - 800-442-6537

Good Luck!!!
