To flush....... or not to flush! THAT is the question!

I wish there was a study done where 100 cars were ran until trans failure with no fluid changes, and and another 100 cars got fluid changes every 125k miles. I wonder which batch would last longer on average. You might be right about the flushes. I'm just not sure if the new fluid's fresh detergent will loosen up crud over time and cause problems. If I do anything at all, I would remove the drain plug and refill. Drive, repeat, repeat.

Drain plug? I ask because I'm working on an 08 1500 and need to change the fluid...I have not had a chance to crawl under it yet.

I was vaccing out through the the dipstick, but that only pulls about three quarts.

My pan has a drain plug. Yours might too.

4l60e or 4l70e, my manual lists both? I think this has a 4l60e being a 4.8l? I don't know the 1500s that well, I'm a 2500 guy.

I'll find out tonight, it was too late last night to crawl under.
