Need help I call 5 different dealers and got all different numbers I called corporate 3 times got different numbers as well. My 1500 has a 5.3 lmg with fuel management . The build says it has a 308 gear ratio with hd cooling and hd towing package . The model in the glove box tells me it's a cc10543. My trailer ways 7400 pound full. Can someone help me determine if I can haul it please

I have the same truck with an extended cab, 4x4, and 3.73 gears, and my towing capacity is the same (7,400 lbs.).

If you've got a regular cab or 2wd, you're good. If you have the same setup as I do, the 3.08 gearing might knock that number down a bit.

According to Trailer Life, your capacity is 6,200 lbs with a short bed, presumably less with a long bed.

Says 7k if it's an "XFE".

With the tow package, it goes from 6,200 to 6,900.

Unreal. Can't say I'm surprised, with how they are on the repair end of things ...

Only things that will change the capacity are gear ratio, engine size, cab configuration, 2wd or 4wd, with or without towing package (additional cooling capacity), and bed length.

Obviously you don't want to exceed the weight limit of your vehicle or trailer. The most important weight limit is your maximum towing limit. You should not haul more than your comfortable with. I have way over loaded vehicle and trailer towing limits in the past, but I did it because I was comfortable with the load, speeds, and distance. On the other side of things, I would not haul the maximum rated weight limit for my vehicle at 70mph for 1000 miles. The risk is simply too high in my opinion. I would want to have trailer brakes and I would drop the speeds to 50 mph for a trip like that.

I've pulled close to 14k with my Silverado for about 12 miles. No way I'd get on the highway loaded like that - it was a handful just going 40 mph on side roads. Another run I did at night was about 13k for about 25 miles. I've driven tractor-trailers with doubles, and everything in between, so I've got experience with hauling heavy. Not something I make a habit of with my little truck, however.

The truck will do it, but the problem happens when it comes time to stop quick ... or, if some moron pulls out in front of you like they always do, and you hit them, now the cops are going to be checking out your load - even though it wasn't your fault, you could be ankle deep in shit if you've exceeded the capacity of the truck and/or trailer. Lawyers will have a field day with your finances ...

So my model is the cc10543 on this chart . The standard cc10543 with a 3.08 says 6900. But it doesn't show it with the add ons the hd cooling or z82 towing which my truck has post-177244-150497647613_thumb.png
