I'm not sure what you mean by "sub thump". Is that a brand name?

If you just mean a sub box...Here is mine:

Those are Kicker Comp V/R 10" subs. It's pretty d@mn loud. I'm impressed everytime I turn it up.

Are you putting one, or two in?

10" or 12"?

Because the single box only has .7 cubic feet of air, and you will be hard pressed to find a 12" sub that will sound decent in that small of a space. Quite a few 10 inchers sound good down to around .5 cubic feet of (sealed) space.

The full box (for 2 subs) has 1.25 cubic feet of air for each sub. This will greatly increase your options in subs...But you now have to mount your amp(s) behind the rear seat.

Even if you go with two, there really is no need for 12" subs. 10s are plenty loud if you throw enough clean power at them. My 10s are a bit much for most people....But I like compression headaches. :sigh:

Hope this helps

Wingnut I like your subbox! I'm looking for something like that for in my truck (98 ext cab). Did you build it yourself or order it online? What space is their in each side's enclosure?

Thanks!

I bought it from a local shop that had several of them just sitting there.

The enclosures are about .8 cubic feet.

its for a crew cab so 1.25 per chamber and I am using 2 JL audio 10w3v2's....the amp is behind the seat already

I have never heard of that company Their boxes seem fairly well built, and they have enough airspace, so I say go for it.

You will still have to put your amps behind the seat, but I guess thats a little easier in a crew-cab than in an ex-cab.

If you don't mind about what do they or did it cost? I've looked a little and most are around 200 or 160+30shipping or something like that. Also, the one guy I spoke with said the NBS 99-02 is the same as OBS 88-98 under the seat (except OBS had the tool box in there)...I'm not sure how correct that really is...but everyone locally tells me to order the Q Logic or MTX prefab enclosures (of some plasticy type stuff...I haven't seen them in real life..but I think I'd prefer a regular box). No one around here wants to make me a custom box (they all say it'll cost a lot more than those prefabs even). I'm debating on trying to make one myself but not sure how that would be...

Thanks for the info on your setup.

I don't remember how much it cost off-hand...But I will see if I can find my receipt when I get home.

I seem to recall it being in the neighborhood of 400 smackers with the subs.

The subs while not top of the line, are pretty good ones. You could go quite a bit cheaper, and still be thumping pretty hard.

I seem to recall the box itself being about $125-$150.

Oh yeah, and I don't like the plastic or fiberglass enclosures. I just don't think they sound as good...No matter how good they fit.

Sorry GF7PE, I'm not trying to hi-jack your thread.

OK....Found my reciept.

$462 total.

$175 for the box

$145 apeice for the subs

There are probably better deals out there, and like I said..You can get subs a lot cheaper than that and still have incredible bass.

I'm thinking that ....if you are thrifty...you could probably get into one of these boxes (with some low-end Fosgate subs) for just over three bills.

Or...I could go down to the store that I bought this at, buy the box, and ship it to you for just over $250

I built my own box to fit my JL audio 10w3's. I also have a crewcab. I posted "boost up the stock stereo". I'm guessing you’re not interested in building your own box? The JL's will fit behind the back seat and the back seat stays functional as you can see in my post. I did not want to give up my space and found that if the box is built right you could maintain the size of box required (something like .6 cubic feet) and still be able to fold your seats forward. Did you or are you replacing your stock head? What else speaker wise are you changing?

I have all of the other pieces already and have 2 8's behind the rear seat running mid bass only. I am adding a JL500/1 and 2 JL10w3v2's to finish off the systems low bass
