I'm new and looking for some info about what my problem could be. I have a 2007 new body 1500 with 200,000+ and my trans wont shift in to 2nd or 4th. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Read over this article. It is 2 pages so be thorough.

http://troubleshootmyvehicle.com/gm/4.3L-5.0L-5.7L/how-can-i-tell-if-my-transmission-is-bad-1

The 1st page discusses symptoms of electrical (shift solenoid & speed sensors) failure.

The 2nd page covers symptoms of internal (clutches & hard parts) failure.

The main thing  here is to road test the truck with this information & see what category you fall into. Keep in mind that if you notice any slipping of the trans' whatsoever, there is a catastrophic failure that requires a complete overhaul. Same thing applies if 1st gear is going out or if you have lost Reverse as well.

The other main thing is to get the fault codes pulled and interpreted. If the 'Check Engine' lamp is lit, there will be fault codes. If the lamp was previously lit for some emissions EVAP type failure, there should be even more new codes related to the transmission. Once again, see article for tips & directions. It should help you diagnose. Good luck & please keep us informed of your findings. Any updates & dealer/auto garage repairs and/or findings should also be added to your thread.
