What is this?

I am working on my sons 2003 Silverado 2500.

I found this sensor in the front of the right side wheel arch, behind the front bumper.

It is mounted to a tab and it did have a wiring connector plugged into it.

It is obviously broken just wondering what it is and if it should be replaced.

I'm wondering if it isn't what's left of one of your horns. Typically sensors are low current and use small gauge wire. This appears to be higher current because of the larger gauge of wire, something along the lines of a horn or solenoid of some sorts. Do you have both high and low note horns operating?

Not familiar with a 2500, but my '03 Sierra 1500 has a single horn mounted in the area you describe on both the driver's and passenger's sides. Post your findings if you would please.

The horn did not work at all.

I had a spare pair of horns on a bracket that I removed from an old Ford Focus with a wiring pigtail.

I cut off the old connector, new one soldered in and bracket mounted.

I had a quick look for the left side horn but I could not see it, but it was getting dark.

Cheers..
