Dual Exhaust

I just bought a 2003 Silverado Ext. Cab 4x4 with the 4.8 and i was wondering if adding a dual exhaust would void the GM warranty. thanks for your help.

on the exhaust itself yes. But according to magnussen moss warranty act, gm would have to prove that the exhaust did cause damage to anything else like the motor to void the warranty on it.

Our local dealer sells some new trucks with dual systems already installed. They typically install (and sell at the parts counter) Gibson systems but will also do Flowmasters if you want that system.

You might want to ask the parts guy at the dealership what they have and see what the service department would charge to do an install if you are concerned about any potential warranty issues . But there should be no problem at all if you go with an aftermarket cat-back dual system and do the install yourself or have it done somewhere else.

I'm wondering what is the benefit of cat back dual exhaust? Is it just the louder mufflers? It seems to me this type of system would only hurt your low end torque without giving you any added horse power. Headers with a cold air intake would be the way to go, but that gets expensive, anybody know what you would realistically gain?

I added a Flowmaster system to my truck. It freed up a lot of low end torque. Before with a suprise attack on the gas pedal I could chirp the tires. After if I floored it, I could just light the back end up. I'm sure that isn't your goal, but I was just demonstraiting the difference I felt off the line.

These 5.3L seem to have pretty efficient exhaust already...by going dual I'd think you would lose torque. Many people are saying just replace the muffler.

Check out the Corsa Exhaust, They are a genuine GM part So the warranty should be find. All the vette pace cars have Corsa exhausts on them.
