2017 suburban LT, iPhone 8 bluetooth

When I have my iPhone 8 connected to the suburban with Bluetooth I get a ring tone through the vehicle speakers when I get a call. However, when I get a text or messenger notification all I get is a short small vibration. Is there a setting I'm missing to get audable notifications while connected to bluetooth?

If you plug the phone into a usb the CarPlay will work. It reads and responds to texts and makes and receives calls without issue.

I tried playing with CarPlay a bit. I would get a text tone when I was plugged in, but no tone for FB messenger

Oddly enough, this morning when the phone was hooked to Bluetooth, not plugged in, I received text tones through the vehicle. That’s good I guess, will have to try FB messenger tones later.
