Not starting. Clutch switch problem?

Hey all. I have a '93 2.8 6cyl Sonoma. It runs and shifts like a champ....until just now. I got in it and dash lights came on but I got nothing when I turned key. It has done this a couple times before, but when I bump the gearshifter around a bit it starts. Now it won't. I am wondering if the clutch isnt engaging. Im not too mechanically inclined. I learn as I go. This is new since I havent had a manual transmission since I was in school. Im guessing it's clutch switch but I was hoping for more information from folks who work on these trucks. It is a good truck. Starts right up first turn except those few times and now. Shifts great and no fluid leaks anywhere. Thanks for any advice.

Pull the leads from the clutch switch, use an alligator clip to hold them together and try starting to verify if indeed the clutch switch is bad, don't forget you'll need to be in neutral or have the clutch pedal depressed. I've had a couple of those go bad on manual transmission vehicles I've had in the past, I ended up just bypassing the clutch safety switch.

Thanks. I had a friend embarrass me. It was a connection related to the alternator that had come just a bit loose. Reconnected it and we're back to normal. Thanks for reply though. Have a good one.
