buying parts other than gm

What are your peoples opinions on putting non-gm parts in a gm vehicle? For example, I always put ac delco spark plugs, pcv, and some other items in my truck. However, when it comes to parts like starters, fuel pumps, water pumps, alternators, etc... what do you put in, gm or some other after market part? I know that if you buy ac delco your probably going to pay more, but is it worth the cost? Just because I buy a starter from Napa for $30.00 less than ac delco does this mean that the Napa one is garbage? Your thoughts.

For me smaller items are a different story but larger items I stay GM. My alternator and starter on my '94 are GM rebuilt that my uncle rebuilt. I guess Im lucky because I KNOW I can trust my uncle's work. But my air compressor was replaced with a new Harrison compressor.

I cant ever remember buying a GM part in my life. I do use AC Delco oil Filters but thats about it. Everything else I get is aftermarket stuff. I just believe its fairly possible that alot of that stuff out there is as good as or better than GM parts. Plus its about a 1/3 of the price. Since I try to do most of my own work I could buy 3 aftermarket parts for the price of one GM, but I have never had to do that. Nearly all of the aftermarket parts I have gotten have been great even outlasting some of the GM parts!
