2011 front driver side differential seal replacement

Hello guys and girls, quick question about the new seal. It's a #710648 from federal-mogul and has a metal side and rubber side. I think it's the metal side that goes in towards the bearing and the rubber side out toward the cv shaft. I've heard some seals from certain manufactures go in the other way? Could anyone confirm this?? Also doing front brakes and driver side cv axle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The brakes and CV axle are super easy. If your rotors are not warped, just replace the pads. Maybe $20 for the pads on Amazon.com. Maybe $50 for the CV axle.

If your front end is anything like mine, replacing the front differential output seals is not worth the trouble, unless they are gushing oil out. You have to take a lot more apart than you would think.

   Try this instead:

Metal is AIR (outside) side, rubber is inside.  If the aftermarket seal is anything like the OEM seal, it should be stamped right on their either "AIR" or "AIR SIDE".

Yeah, I'm familiar with the brakes and cv shaft, thanks though.  My question was for the seal (I worded it strangely), thanks to all.  I'll check for that identification on the seal. Thanks
